On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred 2000 rupees to the accounts of the nation's 10 crore farmers.
This is the twelfth payment to be made under the PM Kisan Yojana, which was transferred at the Kisan Sammelan held in Delhi.
Prior to this, the scheme's 11th instalment was unveiled in May of this year at a celebration held in Shimla, the state capital of Himachal Pradesh.
Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi hosted the Prime Minister's inaugural speech at the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan.
The 12th tranche, totaling Rs 16,000 crore, was put into the accounts of the nation's 10 crore beneficiary farmers.
Under the programme, the national government grants the farmers 6,000 rupees annually.
This sum is distributed in instalments of 2,000–2,000 rupees every four months.
The recipient farmer's bank account receives the funds directly.
